Morecambe secured only their fifth home win of the campaign with victory against Southend.
Chris McCready nipped in ahead of his marker to head home a Kevan Hurst corner to put the home side ahead.
Hurst then felled Anthony Grant in the area, which allowed Barry Corr to fire net the leveller from the penalty spot.
Stewart Drummond nodded in from close range to put Morecambe ahead again, and Danny Carlton also hit the bar late on with a long-range effort.
Southend United manager, Paul Sturrock told BBC Essex: "I think disappointed is the word I would use.
"Take nothing away from Morecambe today, they were excellent. They showed a zest and vitality, and they are going to cause a lot of teams problems.
"We looked very leg weary and after the first ten minutes we were just waiting for Morecambe to score."
