Burton Albion held off a spirited Northampton Town comeback to move out of the League Two relegation zone.
Andy Corbett put the Brewers in front from Jacques Maghoma's cross before John McGrath's tremendous 25-yard volley doubled the lead.
Cobblers keeper Chris Dunn then put through his own net to make it 3-0.
John Johnson's header gave the hosts a glimmer of hope before half-time and Andy Holt headed a second but it was not to be as Burton held out.
Northampton Town boss Ian Sampson told BBC Radio Northampton: "With our second-half performance we deserved to get a point out of the game.
"In the first half we were poor and I have to take responsibility for the way we played and for the shape we were set up in.
"But after the break I couldn't fault them. There was an urgency about us but it shouldn't take a rollicking at half-time to play like that."
Burton manager Paul Peschisolido told BBC Radio Derby: "This is not good for the heart at all! We said all along that set pieces would be the problem, so we worked on them the other day and thank goodness we did.
"We let them back in the game, but I'm proud of the boys. They were so resilient; they had to head everything, kick everything and throw their bodies on the line.
"It wasn't pretty at times, but it was great to hang onto the win; absolutely fantastic."
