Chesterfield hammered fellow promotion candidates Wycombe to go nine points clear at the top of League Two.
The hosts took the lead when Deane Smalley swept home from Danny Whitaker's free-kick.
Whitaker doubled the advantage from the penalty spot after Jack Lester was felled by Alan Bennett before Lester fired home after good control.
Jon-Paul Pittman lashed in a rebound for Wycombe but Craig Davies finished after bad defending to make it 4-1.
Chesterfield manager John Sheridan told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I've got a great bunch of players and they were all disappointed on Saturday. I had a bad weekend because it's probably the worst we've played since I've been manager.
"We were all down and I could see that in some of the players and that's why I kept one or two of them in the side tonight.
"I think Jack Lester's a prime example. I could see the hurt in his face, the way he played. I think his performance and his goal tonight was a big part of the we played. I thought we played really, really well."
Wycombe Wanderers manager Gary Waddock told BBC Three Counties Radio: "We're very disappointed, it's a way, way below par performance from us.
"Credit to Chesterfield I thought they were excellent on the night.
"They were right up for the game, we never really got going, but it's rare that I say that."
