Northampton Town drew for the sixth game in a row as they held play-off chasing Southend.
The visitors went ahead when full-back John Johnson burst forward and fired into the bottom left-hand corner from the edge of the box.
Barry Corr levelled for the home side seven minutes later, as he rose to head Ryan Hall's corner past Chris Dunn.
Both sides had chances to win it, Ben Tozer spurned a header and Lee Sawyer's tame shot went close for Southend.
Southend United manager Paul Sturrock told BBC Essex: "We went behind but again we've dug ourselves out of a hole.
"They've had a great chance at the back post where the boy should have done better and we've had some chances where the 'keeper has made some decent saves.
"I thought a draw was a fair result and to be fair we looked a leggy team, so I'm settling for a draw."
Northampton Town assistant manager Malcolm Crosby told BBC Radio Northampton:
"If you're getting a draw away from home, it's generally a very good result. What we haven't been doing is taking advantage of the home games.
"There's a good spirit there, because we're not losing games, and there's plenty of points left. We still believe we have an outside chance of getting into the play-offs.
"We have to try to get a couple of wins behind us and we have to take advantage."
