Waide Fairhurst's second-half strike denied Northampton victory at Hereford.
The Bulls went close twice through Stuart Fleetwood but the Cobblers took the lead when Andy Holt headed home Kevin Thornton's corner.
Fleetwood saw another shot saved before Fairhurst got on the end of a Ryan Green cross to smash in from close range and equalise for the hosts.
Northampton nearly won it before the end when Dean Beckwith headed a Thornton corner against the upright.
Hereford United manager Jamie Pitman told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "We just lacked that little bit of cutting edge again today as we've had five or six good opportunities in the first half.
"Their set pieces caused us a few problems and if you keep giving away silly fouls and corners you are going to put yourselves under pressure.
"I have just said to them that they need to start learning a little bit of game know how - make sure that we don't put ourselves under pressure."
Northampton Town boss Ian Sampson told BBC Radio Northampton: "I thought we had a good start to the second half - we look a real threat from set-plays.
"Holty (Andy Holt) has got on the end of it, but then I was disappointed with the way we conceded the equaliser.
"I thought there was a free kick on Michael Jacobs on the far side leading up to their goal so I was disappointed with the referee."
