Oxford United held on for a goalless draw with play-off rivals Gillingham, keeping their first clean sheet in 24 games in the process.
Striker Cody McDonald hit the post in the last minute with a header as the Gills dominated the latter stages.
Adebayo Akinfenwa missed several chances for the hosts, including shooting wide from close range after keeper Ryan Clarke spilled the ball.
James Constable had Oxford's best chance but fired into the side netting.
Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler told BBC Radio Kent: "We didn't get going in the first half, the wind had a big effect on the game. I thought we should have taken the wind out of the game by playing the ball on the floor, but it was difficult.
"In the second half we made a few changes, and they helped us a little bit with fresh legs coming on. If the game had gone on a little bit longer perhaps we would have won it because we were threatening in the last 10 minutes.
"Considering Cody McDonald had the paramedics out to his house on Thursday because of a sickness bug, he did really well to last the 90 minutes. He even hit the bar near the end and nearly scored.
"Oxford played a system where they put a man in front of Adebayo Akinfenwa and stopped the service to him. That frustrated us a little bit. Overall I'm disappointed not to get three points at home."
