Rotherham slid to a third straight defeat after they were beaten convincingly at Stevenage.
Boro opened the scoring through Peter Winn, who smashed home a low shot from 20 yards.
Adam Le Fondre had the Millers' best chance, his left-foot shot going wide, before Byron Harrison tapped in Rob Sinclair's cross to put Boro 2-0 up.
Scott Laird added a third for the hosts, his well-hit shot giving keeper Andy Warrington no chance.
Stevenage manager Graham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio: "The boys have worked tremendously hard, kept another clean sheet and scored the goals to win it.
"They were three terrific strikes of very different types.
"I thought Rotherham worked very hard, they played some good football, kept at the game.
"And I think it's well and good looking at opponents and saying they didn't do things well but I think you've got to give credit to our players."
Rotherham United boss Ronnie Moore told BBC Radio Sheffield: "Spineless, gutless, that's a start. You would have thought we were fourth or fifth from bottom the way we played.
"That's not us. It's the first time I've seen a side beat us up really.
"It was just an abysmal performance today and I don't think anyone has come away with any credit and that's what disappoints me."
