Anthony Charles' first-half goal ensured Dean Holdsworth won his first home game as Aldershot manager.
The centre-back chested the ball down, spun his marker and fired low past John McLaughlin at his near post.
Wade Small had the best chance of the second half, while the closest Bradford came to scoring was inside the first 10 minutes through Tom Adeyemi's effort.
Aldershot are now seven points clear of the relegation zone, while Bradford lost their third game in a row.
Aldershot boss Dean Holdsworth told BBC Surrey: "I'm really chuffed for the players and for the fans. They've been starved of home wins and there's no better start for me.
"A clean sheet is, for me, just as important as that one goal. We know that there's a lot more to be built on than this but this has got to be our home and our fortress.
"If they're going to give me what they've done over the last two games in four days, just think what we'll be like in four weeks. There's plenty of confidence, there's plenty of optimism that we can build."
Bradford City manager Peter Taylor told BBC Radio Leeds: "I'm frustrated with the season because it's not been anything like I'd been expecting and it's probably been one of the toughest.
"We're not doing as well as we'd like, I don't think we're having a great deal of luck and I still think we could have got something out of tonight's game.
"We had some good opportunities just before they scored, so overall I've got no complaints about the players - I thought they worked as hard as they could but unfortunately because of our situation I think we're looking a bit too nervous."
