Oxford had to come from behind to claim a fully deserved victory over Bradford.
The Bantams opened the scoring through David Syers, who netted after the U's failed to clear a corner.
Jack Midson, Damien Batt, Asa Hall, Tom Craddock, James Constable, Steven MacLean and Anthony Tonkin all squandered chances for the hosts.
But the U's levelled when shot number 16 from MacLean ended up in the back of the net and Craddock sealed the victory with a close-range header.
Bradford City manager Peter Taylor told BBC Radio Leeds: "I'm not happy with the result. I thought the players worked extremely hard but we forced ourselves to work hard because I think we kept losing the ball at the wrong times.
"I'm not saying we could have kept the ball all the time but we certainly could have kept it better than we did.
"I felt as though we could have got a second goal because their fullbacks were getting forward and I felt there were holes there, and I felt if we could win it at the right time and play it forward with a bit of care we could have got in behind them."
