Stevenage secured their first league win for more than two months as Barnet slipped to the bottom of the table.
The home side had a two-goal lead after eight minutes - Stacy Long's low cross set-up Luke Foster from close range and Grant Basey put into his own net.
Long's low shot made it three on the half-hour mark, and after the break Mark Roberts netted from a tight angle.
Izale McLeod pulled a goal back from 12-yards out and Mark Marshall's curler was the highlight for the visitors.
Stevenage manager Graham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio: "It has been a long time since we won a football game. It feels like an eternity and winning habits can get forgotten. The lads did very well today to get themselves back to winning ways.
"It was our full intention to take advantage of the young goalkeeper, get our game on them and get the ball into the box. They are a side that has lost their manager and if there was any disarray we intended to take advantage.
"To be three-nil up inside the first 30-minutes was terrific. It was exactly the start we needed and it gave the lads confidence."
