Defences were on top as Burton Albion and fellow promotion hopefuls Shrewsbury played out a goalless draw.
The Shrews should have gone ahead early on but Matt Harrold dragged his shot wide after a mistake by Nathan Stanton.
Harrold also failed to hit the target with a header as the visitors edged an entertaining first period.
Burton's best effort saw James Collins hit a fierce 18-yard volley at keeper Chris Neal while Neal also saved a free-kick from Aaron Webster.
Burton Albion boss Paul Peschisolido told BBC Radio Derby: "I'm not that satisfied. I thought performance wise we we superb. We were immense at the back and as a defensive unit the lads worked extremely hard as I expected them to.
"But I thought we got ourselves into some really dangerous areas without really getting a chance on goal.
"I thought we may have just edged it today. It was a great performance and with a little bit more luck and a little bit more quality in the final third, we could've got all three points."
