Gillingham hit four first-half goals as they eased past Macclesfield and recorded a third successive away win.
The hosts went ahead through Hamza Bencherif's deflected free-kick, but Chris Whelpdale's 15-yard shot bounced over Jose Veiga to level the scores.
Josh Gowling found the top corner to put the visitors in front and they extended their lead when Danny Spiller crossed for Cody McDonald to head home.
Adebayo Akinfenwa poked in a fourth and Matthew Hamshaw's header made it 4-2.
Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler told BBC Radio Kent: "For me all the credit goes to the players. They were outstanding.
"A lot of teams could have dropped their heads [after conceding an early goal] but we responded very well.
"Some of the build-up play for Josh Gowling's goal was tremendous and it was great for Josh to score. I was delighted with him.
"We're over the moon, we've worked very hard, we were worried about the two-and-a-half week break and we responded in the right way."
