Bradford City ended their four-match winless run after a David Syers goal proved enough to beat Hereford.
Syers hit the game's only goal on eight minutes when his 25-yarder flew into the net off the inside of the post.
Guillem Buaza was twice denied by home keeper Lenny Pidgeley, while Bradford striker Tom Adeyemi had two efforts saved by Hereford's Adam Bartlett.
Omar Daley nearly made the points secure for the home side, but saw his 30-yard shot rebound off the post.
Hereford manager Jamie Pitman told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "We've probably been the better team and not come out with anything.
"If I am being honest, we probably just lacked a little bit of quality in the final third. That would have made a difference.
"But we've had our chances and we looked bright from set pieces so I am rather disappointed."
