Bottom club Barnet produced a battling performance to hold Torquay to a draw at Plainmoor and end their three-match winning run.
The Gulls took the lead when a four-man move ended with Elliot Benyon sliding in to turn home Eunan O'Kane's shot.
But Barnet hit back when Mark Byrne arrived unmarked at the near post to head home Mark Marshall's corner.
Byrne almost gave Barnet a shock win in the second half but his shot drew a brilliant save from Scott Bevan.
Torquay United manager, Paul Buckle, told BBC Radio Devon: "Very frustrated, but as the minutes and hours pass tonight I'll be happy with a point.
"We started the game great, we scored a very good goal and then the set play did knock us, it was like being in a lovely hot bath and then jumping into a freezing cold one, because we didn't see it coming.
"We're still in a strong position in the league and in the end I am happy with a point."
Barnet boss Mark Stimson told BBC London 94.9: "It was a difficult game to come to. Torquay are in the play-off places at the moment and we are sitting in the wrong end of the table.
"We were quietly confident and we are getting a few players back from injuries.
"They are working extremely hard in training and all that hard work has come out today."
