Morecambe and Stevenage played out a dour stalemate at the Globe Arena.
The visitors squandered the best of few chances when Scott Laird missed a penalty just after half time.
Garry Hunter was harshly adjudged to have handled David Bridges's header and justice was done when Barry Roche made an excellent save.
Scott Brown shot straight at the keeper and saw a header hit the post for the Shrimps, while Michael Bostwick headed into the side netting for Stevenage.
Stevenage manager Graham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio: "It was a game where there were few clear-cut chances. But I thought we had some very good chances and they don't come better than a penalty.
"Lairdy (Scott Laird) trying to send him the wrong way (from the penalty spot) and then side footing it, was probably the wrong choice. But he'll live and learn and I'm sure he'll score a lot of penalties in the future.
"I thought that if anyone was going to win it was probably us. We probably edged the game. They will be pleased to go away with the draw and we will be disappointed."
