Crewe Alexandra extended their unbeaten record to 11 games with a win over spirited Aldershot.
Several good chances went begging before Byron Moore opened the scoring with a smart turn and great finish into the bottom corner.
Just 60 seconds later the Alex were 2-0 up when Joel Grant added the finishing touches to a superb passing move.
Shots' Anthony Straker cut the deficit from six yards but Ashley Westwood's header restored the two-goal lead.
Aldershot assistant manager Gary Owers told BBC Surrey: "We suffered because of our performance in the first half. We weren't at the races. We rallied in the second half, took the game to them and created numerous chances.
"You can't afford to let games pass you by. The games that pass you by in a season determine where you are at the end of the season, and that will go down as one today.
"We were lax at the back. A couple of our players didn't work as hard as they could have done defensively. You have to do a job even if you are an attacking player. We believe in the team and that's why we can get frustrated."
