Hereford came back from three down at half-time to win at Northampton.
Leon McKenzie hit a first-half hat-trick, heading in Liam Davis's cross, before pouncing on a rebound, then punishing James McQuilkin's back pass.
But second-half sub Stuart Fleetwood scored twice, stroking in and then heading home two Guillem Bauza crosses.
McQuilkin curled in from 18 yards to level and sub Mathieu Manset scrambled the 77th minute winner before Town had Ben Tozer sent off for violent conduct.
Managerless bottom side Hereford looked to be heading for an eighth defeat in 12 league games this season when former Crystal Palace, Peterborough United, Norwich City and Coventry City striker McKenzie completed his hat-trick in first-half injury time.
Just a minute after hitting his second, when Bulls keeper Adam Bartlett could only parry Kevin Thornton's shot, McKenzie raced onto McQuilkin's backpass to round the stranded Bartlett.
But Fleetwood reduced the arrears on 59 minutes after being Bauza and the same two players combined 11 minutes later to make it 3-2.
And, just two minutes later McQuilkin equalised, curling an 18-yard effort into the top corner.
Manset then completed the Bulls' blitz of four goals in 19 minutes when he grabbed the winner following a scramble in the box.
To cap the Cobblers' miserable day, defender Tozer was sent off three minutes from time for throwing the ball at a Hereford player.
The Bulls remain bottom, just a points behind 22nd-placed Northampton. But, after drawing 1-1 at home to League Two leaders Port Vale last weekend, Hereford caretaker boss Jamie Pitman has done his chance of landing the job on a full-time basis no harm.
Cobblers manager Ian Sampson tells BBC Radio Northampton: "The second half is a bit of a blur. Everything we said to them at half-time, they did the complete opposite.
"McKenzie has taken his goals really well. I was trying to protect his injury with taking him off, but I wasn't expecting the second half to unfold like that.
"I'm amazed, and we can't even use the excuse of having a young team. We've let everybody down."
Bulls caretaker manager Jamie Pitman told BBC Hereford & Worcester:
"Some of the things I said at half-time are not repeatable but I basically just said 'Go and work hard' as they'd shown no passion or commitment.
"I said to them 'Go out there and put on a performance second-half. You know you've got it in there because we have seen it - and get the ball back!'"
"I will go on exactly the same way I've been going the last few weeks. I will go on doing this this role until I am told differently by the chairman and vice chairman."
