Leon Osborne scored his debut Bradford goal to help his side to their first win since August.
Ricky Holmes nearly gave the home side the lead but visiting goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin saved well.
Bradford eventually took the lead when Tommy Docherty slotted a ball through to Osborne who drilled his shot into the bottom corner.
The Bantams doubled their advantage when Omar Daley found Tom Adeyemi who slotted home from the edge of the area.
The result moves Bradford out of the bottom two, where they have been replaced by Barnet.
Barnet boss Mark Stimson told BBC London 94.9: "Our players gave absolutely everything they've got.
"At the moment we are getting injury after injury, and I don't like to make excuses but we started without five first-team players, and they're big players for us.
"We had get one of the lads who played for the youth team this morning to be on the bench just to make up the numbers."
Bradford City manager Peter Taylor told BBC Radio Leeds: "Some of the football was good. We had a few hairy moments, but I think overall it was a deserved win.
"It was nice to score two goals and two good goals.
"I think there was a lot of togetherness there and I've just said to them that there was some tremendous performances, and I want them to think about how they played and why they played so well, as they have to take that on board for next week."
