Substitute AJ Leitch-Smith's late equaliser rescued a point for Crewe against Macclesfield.
The Alex had plenty of opportunities to take the lead but poor finishing and good saves from Jose Veiga kept the visitors in the game.
Tyrone Barnett then put the Silkmen ahead against the run of play when he headed home Lewis Chalmers' corner.
Leitch-Smith was at hand to save the day as he side-stepped Carl Tremarco and fired into the bottom corner.
Macclesfield Town manager Gary Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester: "I think it's a decent point but we're a bit disappointed we didn't get the three. They had a period of play with their passing and moving but they didn't really create much in our box."
"It's about what you do in the box, where you've got to be effective. I think we are coming to terms with that and becoming effective in both boxes."
"We've had a difficult start, playing five out of the top seven, but we're on a point a game. To be honest, if we stay in this league, we've swum the channel."
