Macclesfield claimed a surprising away win thanks to two goals in as many second-half minutes at Torquay.
Hamza Bencherif's thunderous 25-yard strike put the visitors ahead but the Gulls levelled when Elliott Benyon netted from close range.
It took Macc until the 76th minute to restore their lead when Ross Draper thumped home a crisp volley.
Two minutes later, Emile Sinclair's solo run and well-executed finish sealed the win.
Torquay United manager Paul Buckle talks to BBC Radio Devon: "It's quite early to reflect, and you just don't know if its the law of averages, but it was a bad day for us.
"But after the mistake in the first half we recovered well and were by far the best team.
"We missed several chances and we needed to step forward."
