Southend United came from behind to consign bottom-of-the-table Hereford United to a third successive home loss.
The Bulls took an early lead when James McQuilkin curled a free-kick into the roof of the net.
But a powerful header from Barry Corr restored parity before the break and Michael Timlin fired the Shrimpers ahead with a 30-yard free-kick.
And Blair Sturrock's close-range finish on 67 minutes sealed a second away success so far this season.
Hereford manager Simon Davey told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "We need a bit of a presence in there (midfield) and I have been trying for the last two weeks as we look a bit lightweight in there.
"We brought Guillem (Bauza) into the squad and he adds quality and touch.
"But I thought Manny (Matthieu Manset) didn't work hard enough today if I am honest - he worked for 20 minutes and then downed tools which is not acceptable."
Southend manager Paul Sturrock told BBC Essex: "We tightened up a bit at the back.
"The boys showed composure and I think we dictated most of the first half.
"When the boys lifted their game in the second half, we got the goals."
