Jake Robinson scored twice as Shrewsbury beat Northampton to return to the top of the League Two table.
The home side took the lead when Matt Harrold initially had a shot blocked by Seb Harris but slotted in the rebound.
The visitors then equalised when Kevin Thornton fired in a brilliant free-kick from 20 yards out.
But Shrewsbury restored their lead when Robinson raced clear to slot in before he grabbed his second when he struck from just outside the area.
That takes Town top scorer Robinson's tally for the season to six. He could have completed a six-minute hat-trick, but dragged a golden chance wide.
The home side dominated the match and were only level at half-time due to Thornton's superb set piece.
Northampton failed to trouble Chris Neal in the home goal and their best chance came five minutes from the end when substitute Michael Jacobs sent a shot skimming off the crossbar.
A goal then could have made for a nervy finish, but Graham Turner's men deserved to maintain their unbeaten home record and return to the top of the table.
Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner tells BBC Radio Shropshire: "To bounce back (from last week's first defeat of the season) was important, and the manner in which we played was important.
"For periods of the game we passed it extremely well and used all our pace and mobility.
"The quality of the second division is improving every season, and this was a good advert for second division football."
Northampton manager Ian Sampson told BBC Radio Northampton: "We gave him (Seb Harris) his opportunity but without being disrespectful to Seb he's our fourth choice centre-half.
"We decided to go with Seb but it didn't work and we just needed to change it and shore it up in the first half. He deserved his chance but he didn't take it.
"We didn't defend how we should do."
