A late Scott Boden strike earned Chesterfield a point and kept their unbeaten league record intact.
Morecambe, still looking for their first league win, took the lead when debutant Scott Brown latched onto Stewart Drummond's flick-on.
Boden levelled with seven minutes to go, firing past Barry Roche after Morecambe had failed to clear.
The home side almost won it at the death, but Jimmy Spencer's shot was cleared off the line by Simon Ford.
Chesterfield manager John Sheridan told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"It's very frustrating watching sometimes.
"Morecambe caused us problems and full credit to them."
"I hope some of them think about their performance today. You've got to perform week in week out"
