Accrington kept up their record of not conceding a league goal this season with a resilient display at Oxford.
The visitors were the better team in the first half with Oxford keeper Ryan Clarke denying first Ray Putterill and then Sean McConville.
James Constable came close for the hosts, having a volley saved by keeper Ian Dunbavin and then being denied again after Alfie Potter's mazy run.
The Reds wasted a chance to win it late on with Johnny Bateson firing wide.
