Rotherham bolstered their League Two play-off ambitions with a narrow win over fellow hopefuls Northampton as a total of three players were dismissed.
Northampton wasted a first-half penalty when Ryan Gilligan's effort was saved by Millers keeper Andy Warrington.
Adam Le Fondre showed how it should be done when he scored from the spot after being upended by last man Craig Hinton.
Hinton saw red, as did team-mate Luke Guttridge for his reaction to Danny Harrison's likewise red-carded tackle.
Rotherham manager Ronnie Moore tells BBC Radio Sheffield: "The pleasing thing for me was the crowd and how they got behind us. That was a big thing.
"I thought we deserved to with the game and it was pleasing to keep that clean sheet. We've limited them to a very few chances."
"We were a little bit lucky with the penalty save but it was a great save from Woggy (Andy Warrington)."
Northampton Town manager Ian Sampson tells BBC Radio Northampton: "Obviously the missed penalty was the deciding factor. If we'd scored it I think the crowd would have turned on Rotherham a bit.
"But there's still all to play for. "We've had two disappointing results but our performances have been OK.
"There are still four games to go, I think we need three wins (to get into the play-offs)."
