Adam Le Fondre's second-half strike secured victory for Rotherham against play-off rivals Dagenham and Redbridge.

The striker pounced from close range after Craig McAllister's shot had rebounded from goalkeeper Tony Roberts.

It was a harsh result for the Daggers who had the better chances, especially in the second half.

Substitute Phil Walsh should have done better but headed Danny Green's pinpoint cross over the bar and missed again after more good work by Green.

Dagenham and Redbridge manager John Still told BBC Essex:

"In fairness, I thought they started brighter than us. We have enough games and points left for us to play for.

"In the second half, apart from their goal I thought we had the better play and with 33 points left to play for we are still positive."

Rotherham boss Ronnie Moore told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"As a team we were magnificent today.

"I just felt that we were under pressure a little bit but our back four were brilliant.

"if we defend the way we did today, we'll be in third spot"
