Anton Robinson kept Bournemouth in second place in League Two with the only goal of the game at Dean Court.
Robinson fired in a rasping shot past Barry Roche after Steve Fletcher had flicked on Lee Bradbury's long throw.
Josh McQuoid burst through but shot across the face of goal with only the keeper to beat, while Roche tipped a fierce shot from McQuoid over the bar.
Morecambe had more play late on but had only one notable shot on target, Paul Mullen hitting the outside of a post.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe told BBC Radio Solent: "We started the game great then we had a little lull. When we scored we felt we could kick on and get another couple.
"They were always going to try and put us under pressure and it was a bit scrappy but I still felt we had opportunities to make the game safe.
"We've got players playing out of position but you wouldn't know it from our performance."
