Gavin McCallum's goal set Hereford on their way to a third straight home win against a poor Aldershot side.
The striker made the most of a mix-up between Shots defenders Chris Blackburn and Anthony Charles to roll in the opener from close range.
And Blackburn then made matters worse when he turned a Mark Pugh cross into his own net to make it 2-0.
Scott Donnelly drilled a free-kick wide for Aldershot, but the visitors rarely threatened as Hereford held on.
Hereford manager John Trewick told BBC Hereford and Worcester:
"We knew we would have to work hard, we knew they would have an extra man in midfield.
"It was pretty even until we got the first goal, they possibly shaded it in terms of possession.
"Then up popped Gavin (McCallum) and got the first and Marc Pugh went on a good run and we were a bit lucky. But we are due a bit of luck."
Aldershot boss Kevin Dillon told BBC Surrey:
