Craig Disley and Steve Leslie struck in the first 28 minutes to secure victory for play-off candidates Shrewsbury and inflict Barnet's 11th away defeat.
Disley scored his first Shrews goal by glancing home a cross from Lewis Neal, who also set up the second for Leslie, whose shot went in off the bar.
Both scorers were denied further goals by saves by Barnet keeper Jake Cole.
Barnet substitute Paul Furlong volleyed his side's only chance straight at keeper David Button after the break.
Barnet boss Ian Hendon told BBC London 94.9:
"I'm obviously disappointed that we got beaten, but more disappointed that my experienced players have not given me what I want from them.
"At the start of the season we were working as hard a Shrewsbury defensively home and away.
"Credit to them, they were organised."
