League Two leaders Rochdale were held to a goalless draw by Port Vale which extended their unbeaten run to 11.
Home on-loan debutant Andy Haworth went agonisingly close to an early goal, but his shot was dragged wide across the face of keeper Chris Martin's goal.
Vale were unlucky not to get a penalty when Craig Dawson appeared to push striker Lewis Haldane in the back.
Chris Dagnall had the best chance of the night for the hosts when he fired Joe Thompson's cross against the bar.
Port Vale manager Micky Adams told BBC Radio Stoke:
"Rochdale are top of the league and flying, but we've dug in and got a well-deserved point.
"Dagnall and O'Grady are on fire and their main threat is their attacking play, so we knew we would be tested defensively.
"We knew Chris Martin would have to make saves, but their keeper has made a save that's kept them in the game as well."
