Morecambe conceded their first league goal in 530 minutes as their seven-game winning run was ended by Grimsby.
Shrimps keeper Barry Roche kept out efforts from Peter Sweeney and Michael Coulson, while Rob Atkinson went close for Grimsby with a first-half header.
Just past the hour Paul Mullin's shot put Morecambe ahead after Grimsby only half cleared a Garry Hunter cross.
But Town made it 1-1 when a clearance was picked up by Sweeney and he fired a dipping volley into the top corner.
