Clayton Donaldson smashed Crewe's best chance against the crossbar as struggling Lincoln held on for a draw.
The in-form Donaldson, who had scored in his three previous games, hit the woodwork following a neat first-half interchange with John Brayford.
The second half saw Crewe's Joel Grant drag a shot across goal while Calvin Zola flashed a header wide.
Keeper Steve Phillips maintained Alex's four-match unbeaten run when he tipped over Eric Lichaj's shot.
Crewe manager Dario Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke:
"I certainly didn't expect that. I thought there would be goals but it became evident early on that they had come to try and hit us on the break.
"I said to the players that it was a job well done because we'll get games like that but I don't like to set out my stall just to defend and hit teams on the break.
"I've got to say that I'm pleased at getting four points from two games, if we can do that for the rest of the season I'll be delighted."
Lincoln manager Chris Sutton told BBC Lincolnshire:
"I'm really proud of my players. We knew it was going to be a difficult game as they're a massive threat in attack and I thought dealt with it well.
"They had periods of pressure but if you come here and go gung-ho against them they'll cut through you so I thought our gameplan was decent.
"At the moment we're not quite getting the breaks in front of goal but we are improving all the time and everybody to a man worked hard."
