Burton staged a spirited second-half resurgence to earn a point against 10-man Rotherham.
Adam Le Fondre netted the hosts' opener from the penalty spot after Paul Boertien was adjudged to have handled.
The striker scored his second in the 63rd minute, but the visitors hit back two minutes later when Aaron Webster followed up Greg Pearson's shot.
Rotherham had Nick Fenton sent off on 72 minutes before Pearson grabbed the equaliser with six minutes remaining.
Rotherham United manager Ronnie Moore tells BBC Radio Sheffield:
"I'm bitterly disappointed, when you go two nil up it should be game set and match but we're like a box of chocolates at the moment so soft centred."
"You look at the back four and its only Ian Sharps who was magnificent today. I don't think the other three contributed anything"
Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido tells BBC Radio Derby:
"From the word go, the lads showed the right spirit and the right attitude. We asked for a response after the midweek and we certainly got that."
"I was absolutely delighted with the performance and think we could have snuck the three points."
