Morecambe secured their sixth-successive victory after two first-half goals helped to see off Port Vale.
Forward Phil Jevons grabbed his 13th goal of the season after 25 seconds when he collected Garry Hunter's pass before curling the ball in superbly.
Just before half-time, a Jevons pass was luckily deflected by Doug Loft into the path of Paul Mullin who forced the ball into the net from 12 yards.
Marc Richards went close in the second half but Morecambe hung on comfortably.
Port Vale manager Micky Adams tells BBC Radio Stoke:
"We got off to the worst possible start and didn't really get much better to be honest".
"In the first half whilst we got in to some great areas at times, we never didn't test the goalkeeper it's as simple as that".
"There was still 89 minutes of the game to go so goals that early shouldn't effect anybody, they are disappointing but could it have been avoided, yes it could have been avoided".
