Aldershot boss Kevin Dillon was denied a win in his first game in charge by a virtuoso performance by Macclesfield keeper Jon Brain.
Brain made a stunning first-half save from Anthony Straker and then added two more, from Kirk Hudson and Marvin Morgan, after the break.
Straker and Morgan missed three other chances to give the Shots the points.
Macc's winger Emile Sinclair created his team's best chance early on but his low cross evaded all his team-mates.
Aldershot boss Kevin Dillon told BBC Surrey:
"I thought we were very competitive, the elements weren't particularly in our favour, but considering, the performance was very good I thought.
"Marvin (Morgan) said on another day he would have scored two but I don't mind him missing.
"As long as he's missing chances, that's OK, because that means we're creating them."
