League Two strugglers Grimsby suffered a fourth league defeat on the trot as they were beaten by Rochdale.
The visitors took the lead when Chris Dagnall found Adam Rundle, who wrong-footed the defence before slotting home with his left foot.
Grimsby's Josh Magennis hit the bar late on before Dale made the game safe.
Chris O'Grady collected a clearance on the edge of the box and struck a right-foot shot, which took a deflection, past keeper Nick Colgan.
