Northampton fought back from a two-goal deficit to earn a point at Bury.
David Worrall scored the opener for the Shakers, firing in his own saved shot and Ryan Lowe doubled the lead with a fine lob after Ryan Cresswell's pass.
Cresswell almost made it three after the break, but Courtney Herbert pulled one back when he burst through to slot coolly past goalkeeper Wayne Brown.
Substitute Adebayo Akinfenwa levelled eight minutes later, heading home from a Luke Guttridge corner.
Northampton manager Ian Sampson told BBC Radio Northampton:
"It was a fantastic comeback but I'm very disappointed with how we played in the first half.
"We can't keep letting teams have two-goal starts on us. If we keep performing like that, some team is going to punish us and we won't get back into it.
"We had a bit of possession but didn't move the ball around quickly enough. We were a bit sloppy, even though we were in the ascendancy."
