Elliot Benyon's fifth goal of the season secured a point for Torquay in an entertaining 1-1 draw with Bury.
Tom Elliott shot high and then wide for the Shakers who took the lead when Mike Jones latched on to a Ryan Lowe through ball and fired in a low, angled drive.
Benyon's powerful strike levelled the scores while Chris Robertson headed one Kevin Nicholson corner straight at Bury keeper Wayne Brown and a second over.
Nicky Wrose's went close with a long-range shot but Bury held on for a draw.
Torquay United manager Paul Buckle told BBC Radio Devon:
"I felt first half that we paid them too much respect, didn't match up and go and get in their face and that disappointed me.
"In the second half we stepped forward against all the odds and probably should have won the game.
"I've said to the players 'believe in yourself, I believe in you, we've worked hard to get here and let's have a real go at it'."
