A brace from in-form striker Chris Dagnall earned Rochdale victory over Torquay at Spotland.
Dagnall pounced midway through the first half when keeper Michael Poke could only parry a Will Buckley effort.
With Rochdale dominant, Dagnall later capitalised on a Chris Todd slip to make it five goals in four games.
In the last minute, Chris Hargreaves pulled back a goal for Torquay when he redirected a Marvin Williams effort past Rochdale keeper Kenny Arthur.
Torquay United manager Paul Buckle told BBC Radio Devon:
"We've played a very good side today and I think we need to give Rochdale credit, they were an absolute handful up front.
"At the moment we're having a tough time of it, but I said to the players to remain positive and we'll work hard next week.
"We've got a lot of work to do and I'm hoping the group that I've got can come up to the mark as far as that's concerned."
