Joel Grant's first goal of the season earned Crewe maximum points in a hard-fought derby win against Macclesfield.
The Alex took the lead when Billy Jones whipped in a free-kick and Calvin Zola rose unchallenged to head home.
Macclesfield equalised when a pass from Izak Reid fell to Ricky Sappleton and the on-loan striker rolled the ball in under keeper David Button.
Zola then shot wide from 12 yards but Grant scored the winner burying a low drive into the bottom corner.
Crewe manager Gudjon Thordarsson told BBC Radio Stoke:
"When we reflect on the game we will see that there was a lot of good football in it.
"We created three or four excellent chances that we really should have done better with.
"The most positive thing that I will take out of this game is that my team kept going and kept trying."
