Matthew Tipton toasted the start of his third spell at Macclesfield by setting his team on the way to a convincing win over a lacklustre Port Vale.
Tipton smashed a curling 25-yard drive into the net after six minutes for his first goal of the season and nearly added a second two minutes later.
The match was settled with a 20-yard strike from 20-year-old Hamza Bencherif midway through the second half.
The midfielder volleyed in the rebound after his first effort hit the bar.
Port Vale boss Micky Adams told BBC Radio Stoke:
"I thought we lost the game in the first 20 minutes with the tempo of the game. It took us a while to get going and we were left chasing the game.
"It's my first defeat at Port Vale manager and I'm disappointed by that, it's work in progress and we'll continue with that."
"Let's give Macclesfield some credit they had a game plan and stuck to it."
