Paul Benson hit four goals as Dagenham & Redbridge thumped Shrewsbury to make it three wins from three league games.
Benson, who turned down a move to Shrewsbury in the summer, headed home Peter Gain's cross to open the scoring.
He scored his second of the night when he converted Josh Scott's shot before a cracking effort by Scott Griffiths from the edge of the box made it 3-0.
Benson completed his hat-trick with a header before half-time and he nodded home Gain's cross to complete the rout.
Dagenham & Redbridge manager John Still told BBC Essex:
"Obviously I'm delighted - Shrewsbury are a top side, as we know from last year.
"They have caught us on a very good night and we have played very, very well.
"We only play one way - we get people forward, we try to attack, we try to entertain and at the moment it's good for us."
Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire:
"We got what we deserved, absolutely nothing. We've been well and truly punished and we deserved to lose the game as comfortable as it was for Dagenham.
"It's only a reality check if we do something about it. We have to take it on the chin. It's not pleasant, it's never an easy place to come to."
