The 40-year-old former Chelsea forward capitalised on an early defensive mix-up to lash into the roof of the net.
Morecambe had the ball in the net but Laurence Wilson saw a powerful far-post finish disallowed for a push.
Albert Jarrett sealed the points from the spot, rifling in the penalty after being fouled in the area, the 12th goal Morecambe have leaked in three matches.
