A Calvin Zola double inspired Crewe to their first win of the season as they emphatically beat Grimsby.
Zola opened the scoring as he held off a defender and looped in a shot to round off a Crewe counter attack.
He added his second with a header and Billy Jones extended Crewe's lead with a penalty after Nick Heggarty pushed Byron Moore.
Ryan Bennett headed against the post for Grimsby before Moore slotted home late on for Crewe's fourth.
Crewe Alexandra manager Gudjon Thordarson told BBC Radio Stoke:
"I thought we started the game well, we were on top and got the early goal that we were after which relieved the pressure a lot.
"After we got the first goal I always felt that it was going to be our game, and I was proved right.
"Obviously the killer blow for them was to concede the penalty right at the start of the second half, after that we created a lot of chances."
