Andy Morrell's strike saw promotion-chasing Bury edge out lowly Bournemouth to secure a first win in five games.
Alan Knill's side were always on top but were kept at bay by some inspired goalkeeping from Shwan Jalal.
But Jalal was powerless to stop Morrell tapping in the winner after great work by Stephen Dawson and Elliott Bennett.
Ben Futcher also headed against the bar for the home side while the Cherries' best chance saw Jeff Goulding direct a powerful header over the bar.
