Simeon Jackson scored an injury-time penalty to maintain Gillingham's promotion push as they beat Darlington.
Gillingham thought they had gone ahead when Mark McCammon toe-poked in but the referee blew for a foul on the home side's Curtis Weston in the build up.
The Gills pushed for a winner and keeper Andy Oakes denied Adam Miller.
But Jackson slotted home his 16th goal of the season to give the home side their fourth win in five matches after Alan White handled in the box.
