Shrewsbury failed to move into the League Two play-off places after being held to a draw away at Aldershot.
The visitors began brightly and should have scored when Ben Davies skipped clear and crossed, only for the unmarked Grant Holt to head just wide.
But the Shots improved and Jake Robinson tested Luke Daniels, before setting up Scott Davies to go close.
The Shrews went closest after the break when Shane Cansdell-Sheriff forced Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz into a fine save.
