Matt Gill and Craig McAllister scored after the break as Exeter piled on the misery for cash-strapped Darlington.

The Grecians had the better of the first period with Steve Basham going closest while Franz Burgmeier hammered a shot wide for the visitors.

But the home side dominated and Gill opened the scoring with a well-taken penalty after Matt Taylor's shot was handled inside the box.

Sub McAllister sealed the win with a thumping header from Moxey's cross.
