Darlington dashed the hopes of plucky Grimsby thanks to a late goal from teenage striker Curtis Main.

Main came off the bench in the 83rd minute and headed home four minutes later from Ricky Ravenhill's cross.

Danny Carlton should have scored for Darlington 10 minutes from time, but side footed wide from six yards out.

Adam Proudlock missed two good chances for the visitors while Darlington's Franz Burgmeier and Jason Kennedy both hit the woodwork in the first half.
