Ten-man Darlington boosted their promotion credentials with a valuable victory over Rotherham.

The home side scored the winner in the 22nd minute when on-loan striker Danny Carlton headed in Ryan Valentine's right-wing cross from close range.

Darlington were reduced to 10 men when Robin Hulbert received a second yellow card after an aerial challenge on Drewe Broughton in the 57th minute.

But the Quakers withstood a late Rotherham onslaught for three points.
